Most Android devices require downloading the Link to Windows app from the Google Play Store.

If you own certain Samsung or HONOR phones, they may already come equipped with the Link to Windows app preinstalled; otherwise, it can be found through the Google Play Store or Galaxy Store.

Start from your Windows PC:

Search the taskbar search box for “Phone Link,” then choose it among the results.

Once you select Android, you’ll be asked to sign in to your Microsoft account (you must use the same account on both your Android device and PC to link them together.). You can link both devices.

Once logged in, you’ll be asked to install or open the companion app on your Android device. To do this, launch a web browser on the phone and enter the link shown on your PC (

Sign in with your Microsoft account from your PC to access the companion app and see the QR code we will discuss later.

Once signed in, return to your PC and select “I Have the Link to Windows App Installed on My Phone,” followed by “Pair with QR Code.”

Note: To manually pair your device, click the Pair manually button on your PC instead. On Android devices, you’ll be asked to enter the code displayed on PCs before pairing is possible.

Your PC screen should display a QR code. On an Android device, open up its companion app and look for a screen featuring a camera – this screen allows you to scan the QR code displayed on the PC screen using this device’s camera.

After your devices are linked, your Android device will prompt you for device permissions that enable you to access content from your phone on a PC.

Start from your Android Device:

Launch a browser on your Android device, type in ““, and download the “Link to Windows app.” For select Samsung devices.

Your Android device comes preloaded with Link to Windows, which may be easier and quicker for you.

Sign in to the companion app using the same Microsoft account you use to log into your PC. (To link devices, when starting from your phone, this step must first take place on a PC).

After signing in, you’ll be asked to scan a QR code displayed on your PC. Launch your browser and go directly to on PC to get there quickly.

Use the camera of the companion app on your Android device to scan the QR code displayed on your PC and link both devices together.
